This course focuses on the writing and publishing of academic articles. Topics covered are academic English, tone and style, structure and argument, topic and scope, composing titles and abstracts, formatting, when and where to submit, and more. Participants are asked to bring abstracts (preferably works in progress) of articles, conference papers, or their dissertations.

 

// Dr. Imke Polland is a postdoctoral researcher and the academic coordinator of the European PhD Network “Literary and Cultural Studies” at the International Graduate Centre for the Study of Culture (GCSC), Justus Liebig University Giessen. She has completed her PhD entitled: ‘For Better, For Worse?’ Royal Heirs between Continuity and Change in Media Representations of British Royal Weddings (2005-2011) (WVT, 2020) and is now working on the project Fictions of Brexit. She is co-editor of the volume Literature and Crises (with Elizabeth Kovach and Ansgar Nünning, WVT, 2017) Realms of Royalty: New Directions in Researching Contemporary European Monarchies (with Christina Jordan, transcript, 2020) and the forthcoming books Forms at Work: New Formalist Approaches in the Study of Literature, Culture and Media (with Elizabeth Kovach and Ansgar Nünning, WVT, 2020) and The Cultural Work of Fiction: Trajectories of Literary Studies in the 21st Century (with Ansgar Nünning, WVT, 2021).
