We are meeting once a week to write together from our respective (home) offices, using some of the techniques introduced by writing coach Ingrid Scherübl during the Home Office Writing Retreat that took place at the GCSC in July.

We will do two focus sessions of 50 minutes each, using a Pomodoro timer. Before each session, we set our intentions (what am I going to work on during these 50 minutes?), and do a few minutes of physical activation – this can be a private dance party in your living room, or jumping jacks, squats, stretches, with camera off or camera on – whatever you prefer.

Each meeting will have the same structure:

  • Brief intro
  • Intention setting for focus session #1
  • Physical activation
  • 50-minute focus session
  • 15-minute break
  • Intention setting for focus session #2
  • Physical activation
  • 50-minute focus session
  • Brief recap

Writing can take place in any language, and ‘writing’ can mean anything – actually writing, but also brainstorming, reading sources, coding, implementing feedback, etc. There is no need to prepare or share anything or to give feedback.

This does not count as part of the GCSC curriculum and it will not show up on your transcripts. There is no attendance list.

If you would like to take part, please e-mail Lena Nüchter to receive an access link to a recurrent Webex meeting. You may join at any time throughout the semester, but participants are limited to 15 for connection quality purposes, so depending on long-term interest in this format you may be placed on a waiting list.
