This subject-related module provides first-year GCSC and IPP members of FB05 with tips and exercises for advancing the conceptualization of their projects, narrowing their research foci, structuring their first year of research, and initiating writing. The topics to be covered include:

 
·      Titles, tables of contents, and abstracts
·      Research questions, theories, methods, and concepts
·      Conducting research and initiating writing
 
Ample time will be allowed for participants to raise individual questions and concerns. 
  

The module will feature individual and small-group exercises and can be attended in person or online.



// Dr. Magdalena Pfalzgraf is currently the IPP (International PhD Programme "Literary and Cultural Studies“) coordinator at Justus Liebig University, Gießen. She was a research associate at the department of North American literary and Cultural Studies at Saarland University Saarbrücken and an adjunct faculty member at the New English Literatures and Cultures (NELK) subdivision at Goethe University Frankfurt. Her PhD thesis explores mobility dynamics in anglophone Zimbabwean literature in the post-2000 period. Research interests include Southern African literatures in English, Transculturality, Border studies, Mobility, Movement, and Migration in Literature, Music & Musical instruments in literature. She is consolidating research for her Habilitation on colonial and postcolonial literary engagements with music.
