PC: Video Production Basics for Researchers – Planning, Recording, Editing (Part III)

Much of contemporary media and communication is reliant on the unique combination of affordances that video offers. In particular, science communication done by individuals or institutions is also increasingly benefiting from the use of video. Being able to produce some of the most common forms of videos, such as talking heads or interviews, might become a highly useful, yet easily accessible skill in the toolkit of researchers. This course series is intended as a hands-on introduction to the basics of video production for academic purposes and beyond.

Topics covered in this three-part practical course are among others:

• Features, content, and uses for interview or talking head videos in academia;
• Equipment and software needed to produce this type of video content;
• Recording and editing your own videos in the form of a PhD Spotlight.
