Aufbaukurs Promotion FB 03 / Intermediate Course Faculty 03 (Part 1)

This subject related intermediate course is designed for doctoral candidates who are already conducting their dissertation projects in Faculty 03: Cultural and Social Sciences. This course employs a twofold approach: First, it intends to provide the ground for the doctoral candidates to reflect on the ongoing process of their individual research projects (project design, fieldwork, building the theoretical frame, methodological challenges, writing process etc.) and to discuss common challenges and potential strategies relatedly. In this part, the participants will be provided with relevant tools and tips regarding the management of the whole project process. Second, the course will cover further general issues regarding situating oneself in the academic field, such as career development, networking, publication, presenting one’s work/profile.

// Dr. Pinar Gümüş Mantu is currently working as a postdoctoral research associate at the Chair of Cultural Sociology at the Justus Liebig University of Giessen, and she is also an affiliated researcher at the International Graduate Center for the Study of Culture (GCSC). Among her research interests are the fields of sociology of youth, social movements, migration, gender and qualitative social research.
