Teaching Assistantships (STIBET)

stibet

Together with JLU’s International Office, the GCSC has secured funds for teaching assistantships from the STIBET program of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). If you are an international GGK member, not employed at JLU and would like to gain teaching experience in the German university system, please apply by March 1, 2022.

STIBET teaching assistants plan and design their own workshops for their peers and gain valuable teaching experience.

The current pandemic situation also requires creative solutions for teaching. The STIBET programme is ideally suited for testing and exploring digital teaching methods. The Teaching Centre will support you during the preparation and you will discuss your teaching concept in a preparatory workshop. However, you will be responsible for the technical realizations.

Here you will find contact persons and tips for digital teaching scenarios:

After the teaching phase you will receive feedback from the participants of your course, a certificate of successful completion of the programme, and an honorarium. Your workshop should take place between April 20 - July 15, 2022 (for the summer term) or October 9 - December 9, 2022 (for the winter term).

A tip for designing your teaching project:

Think about the skills and expertise you are bringing to the GCSC. Some of those skills might be interesting for other (post-)doctoral researchers or for MA students on their way to planning a PhD. For your project description you might want to think about what you have already learned from other researchers that you can now pass on: concepts you found particularly useful that are relevant in other disciplines as well; research approaches and theoretical frameworks familiar to you that others might struggle with; methods of organizing, structuring, or managing one’s research that have helped you, etc.

The selection will be based on the following criteria:

- Coherence of the suggested teaching project

- Feasibility and practicability

- Target group orientation

Please note that participation in the preparatory workshop (taking place on April 19th, 10am-3pm) and a short session on organizational matters (on April 21st, 10-11am) is mandatory.

To apply, please fill out the application form by March 1, 2022. Please upload your event description as a single PDF file (max. 2000 words). Please note that only complete applications can be considered.
