She is the owner and operator of the Berlin editorial office KonTextGesundheit. She reports on developments in medicine worldwide—from Kabul to Chicago.

Topics and Goals:
  • Reflecting on experiences with the public and the media
  • Get to know news factors
  • Generate and communicate clear core messages
  • Differences of communication via classic media and social media
  • Learn important basics of press law in German-speaking countries
  • Strategies for preparing for interviews (tips on body language and overcoming nervousness)
  • Training and analysis of short interview situations
What do you do when The Guardian is calling? How can you communicate to be understood correctly? And what are reporters even interested in?
In this hands-on workshop, researchers get ready to meet the media.
There will be two quick impulse presentations about the media landscape and basic media law, but the major part of the workshop will be practice and giving structured feedback.

The participants will develop core messages from their work for a broader public.
They will find their individual way to communicate understandably and yet correctly.
They will write a short text for a broader public to figure out whether their understandability criteria work.
They will practice a mini-interview in front of the camera and receive structured feedback on argumentation, understandability, as well as voice and body language.

The goal of it all: Developing competence in dealing with public media outlets and feeling safe and well-prepared in front of a microphone or camera.
