Tutors' Qualification

This is TuQu:

Imagine you are conducting a tutorial on a complex topic. You've prepared thoroughly and are motivated. But just a few minutes into speaking, you look around and see only puzzled faces. The students do not seem to grasp what you want to convey. Some start to ask unsettled questions, while others just seem confused. Quickly you realise: Your way of presenting the topic is not having the desired effect. It becomes clear: something is going wrong, and you wonder how you can resolve the situation.

This is where the tutor qualification programme comes in. The programme aims to train students who lead tutorials or study groups in conveying their subject knowledge in a target group-oriented and convincing manner. It supports you in effectively and understandably imparting complex content by teaching didactic principles and techniques. The qualification also prepares you to critically reflect on and continually adapt your own teaching activity. You can choose from a series of workshops on topics that seem most interesting to you. The programme not only enhances your didactic skills but also strengthens your social and personal competencies

The tutor qualification programme runs alongside the semester and is available in both German and English. It is divided into four sections: Introduction, Practice, Workshops, and Conclusion. You choose your workshops, whether in German or English, according to your interests from the programme.

At the end of the programme, you will receive a certificate that records your participation and the workshops attended. Additionally, you have the opportunity to earn 1 ECTS credit, which may be recognised as a non-subject specific competence (AfK) for your studies. This depends on the respective institute or department."

Note: Tutors can create an accompanying reflective portfolio and then receive a certificate of qualification as a tutor. If necessary, they can have one credit point recognized for extracurricular skills.
