Characterisation of Nanoscale Systems (NanoSys)
The NanoSys Platform offers physico-chemical methods to determine the sizes of nanoparticles and inner surfaces of nano- or mesoporous solids. They belong to the research groups of Prof. Smarsly (chemistry) and Prof. Klar (physics):
- Nanotracking Analyser - Malvern Instruments Ltd. Nanosight, size range approx. 10 - 1000 nm.
Person in charge is Dr. Limei Chen / group of Prof. Klar. -
Nanoparticle Analyser - Malvern Instruments Ltd. Zetasizer Nano ZS, with dyn. and stat. light scattering, measurement of particle size (range approx. 0.3 nm - 10 µm) and molecular weight.
Person in charge is Dr. Rafael Meinusch / group of Prof. Smarsly. - Ultra Disc Centrifuge - CPS Instruments Inc. 24000 DC, with dyn. light scattering, size range approx. 10 nm - 40 µm.
Person in charge is Dr. Rafael Meinusch / group of Prof. Smarsly. - Mercury Porosimetry - Thermo Fisher Scientific, PASCAL 140/440, Intrusion in the range from 0,01 kPa – 400 MPa for pore size (3,5 nm – 60 µm diameter) and pore volume determination.
Person in charge is Dr. Rafael Meinusch / group of Prof. Smarsly. -
Physisorption - Quantrachrome Quadrasorb evo, for measurement of BET surfaces, pore volumes and pore-size distributions (mesopores), using nitrogen sorption at 77 K.
Person in charge is Felix Badaczewski / group of Prof. Smarsly. -
Physisorption - Quantrachrome Autosorb-iQ, with turbo-molecular pump for the analysis of micro-/nanopores or very small surface areas, using sorption of nitrogen, argon or krypton.
Person in charge is Felix Badaczewski / group of Prof. Smarsly.
