Welcome to the website of the Richter group
The Richter research group develops materials for sustainable and safe solid‑state batteries that are safer, longer‑lasting, and more energy‑ and resource‑efficient for electric vehicles and renewable energy storage.
We focus on stabilizing interfaces inside high‑energy batteries using polymers and reagents for interface modification. By applying nanocoatings to high‑nickel cathode particles and investigating the fundametals of polymer-ceramic interfaces in hybrid electrolytes, we keep battery components in good contact, reduce degradation, and enable lithium and sodium solid-state batteries with higher performance and lifetime.
Working closely at the intersection of physical chemistry and materials science, our goal is to translate fundamental interface design into scalable battery concepts that support the electrification of transport and the transition to renewable energy.
