German for Academic and Professional Purposes

Introductory Course: Communication at University

In this short course you will learn specific JLU vocabulary, how to address people properly (“du” Vs “Sie”) and you will talk about cultural differences between Germany and your home country.

This course aims to be an introduction to JLU and the German evening courses. We recommend to register for the German evening classes as well.

Dates:

  • 27 March 2023 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
  • 28 March 2023 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
  • 29 March 2023 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.

Prerequisite: This course requires prior German knowledge of at least level A1. The course itself is taught at level A2. You will either have to hand in a certificate or a screenshot of your online test score (the link to the online test will be send to you via email after registration).

German for Professional and Academic Purposes

In this advanced course you will learn how to write proper emails in German, how to give a presentation and how to read academic texts strategically. Moreover, you will talk about the German job market including the writing of an application.
