You can apply for a PROMOS scholarship at the beginning of each semester. The application deadline for stays abroad from January to June will be 1st of December. For stays abroad from July to December, the application deadline will be 1st of June.

Please note:

  1. From 2025, significant restrictions will also have to be implemented in the funding of individual stays due to budget cuts:

    a) Study visits, visits to write a thesis and participation in summer/winter schools will only be eligible for funding at JLU partner universities.

    b) Summer and winter schools are only funded with a lump sum for the duration of the course (no lump sum for the course fee).

    c) Internships that involve remuneration of €800/month or higher, as well as internships that were arranged via a placement agency for a fee, are generally excluded from funding.

    d) Funding for internships is limited to three months, even if the internship lasts longer.

  2. From 2025, PROMOS will only be able to fund excursions outside the Erasmus+ programme countries. You can find more information under “Information for professors and lecturers: Application for study trips”. Please contact us in advance with any questions about the eligibility of your study trip so that we can support you best in the planning process.

  3. The PROMOS programme is advertised twice a year:
The first call for applications refers to stays in the first half of the year.
Application period: 1st of October until 1st of December.
The second call refers to stays in the second half of the year.
Application period: 1st of April to 1st of June.

Please check which call for applications applies to your planned project and submit your application accordingly.

  4. If your stay is eligible for funding under another DAAD scholarship programme, such as “Lehramt.International” or “Kurzstipenden für Praktika im Ausland”, we cannot accept an application for PROMOS. Please find out whether one of the programmes is suitable for you and apply first (or in parallel if necessary) for the appropriate DAAD programme. Should you receive a rejection in the corresponding DAAD programme your stay might be eligible for PROMOS funding.

  5. The funding of stays in the Russian Federation and Belarus is currently suspended.
