Professors fulfill important tasks in the areas of teaching and research, management of research projects, management of their own professorships, human resource management, academic self-administration, transfer of academic insights and promotion of junior scientists.


These tasks are connected to a wide variety of requirements and competencies. Academic excellence in teaching and research, purposeful and strategic conduct, resource management and constructive as well as motivational human resource management are key competencies of professors.

Regarding the group of professors, Justus Liebig University has developed an ideal goal profile which is closely oriented towards the overarching human resource development goals “competence” and “motivation”. According to that, Justus Liebig University offers specific trainings concerning the areas of human resource management, didactics and scientific management.
