Networked teaching and learning: New impulses from ‘VITALS in Practice’

In August 2025, the publication ‘VITALS in Practice. A Practical Implementation of Annika Brück-Hübner's Virtual International Teaching and Learning Skills (VITALS)’ will be published. Author and NIDIT employee Anna Sophie Jäger builds on Annika Brück-Hübner's concept of Virtual International Teaching and Learning Skills (VITALS) and supplements it with practical implementation ideas. The publication is based on the workshop VITALS – Building Bridges, which Jäger conducted together with Juliane Sommer (JLU) in the summer semester of 2024. In addition to the specialist lectures, the results of the participants' group work were also incorporated into the publication. The result is a volume that documents theoretical principles as well as concrete application examples and challenges of virtual international teaching.

The paper covers topics such as:

  • a glossary of key terms relating to international higher education,
  • didactic principles for digital teaching and learning formats,
  • the potential of virtual teaching for hybrid formats, networks and curriculum development,
  • innovative assessment methods such as e-portfolios,
  • solutions to typical challenges in digital learning environments.

This English-language publication is aimed at interested students, teachers and university developers who would like to try out new approaches to internationalisation and cooperation in teaching.

The volume is freely accessible at: DOI 10.22029/jlupub-20120
