24/06/2022 | Successful workshop on hybrid teaching for tutors

The workshop "Introduction to blended synchronous teaching for tutors", part of the tutors´ qualification at the Justus Liebig University Giessen (JLU), took place for the first time on the 15th of June 2022 from 2 to 4 p.m.. Inês Gamelas (PhD), lecturer at the tutors´ qualification, conducted the workshop in the first part, introducing the five participants to the theoretical approaches of hybrid teaching. Among other things, the participants got an insight on both the didactic potentialities and difficulties of this teaching format, discussing practical solutions to different problems. Furthermore, the participants had the chance to talk about their previous experiences within this teaching format and to exchange their ideas on practical tips for the application of blended synchronous teaching in their tutorial courses. Co-lecturer Sina Roggenkamp, an expert in data literacy and innovative teaching approaches in hybrid formats, presented in the second half of the workshop various technical elements of hybrid teaching and their practical application. The participants had thus the opportunity to try them out directly and get a more precise notion on the implementation of blended synchronous teaching in their tutorial courses. Besides four interested tutors, this workshop also counted with the participation of Dr. Markus Meier, guest from Colombia (Universidad de Santander, who contributed greatly to the success of the session with his enthusiasm for the topic. This workshop was the last session of the workshop series of the tutors´ qualification in the current semester. Due to its success, the tutors´ qualification is going to offer again this workshop in the future – also in English language. If you are interested in taking part or on knowing more about it, please contact the tutors´ qualification at the JLU (tutorenqualification@zfbk.uni-giessen.de).

The tutors´ qualification also thanks Eva Dabrowski, team member of the NIDIT project, and Augustin Rauch, member of the HessenHub project, for their dedicated support in the preparation of this workshop.
