Dr. Reut Paz is an Israeli scholar specializing in international law, European law, international relations and legal history. She studied law and political science at the University of Helsinki Finland (LLM, MA), and received her PhD from Bar-Ilan University, Israel. During her studies, she was awarded several scholarships, including from the Finnish government (CIMO), the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), and Bar-Ilan University. Dr. Paz conducted research for two years as a postdoctoral fellow of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation at Humboldt University in Berlin. She taught international law at the College of Management, Israel; international legal history at Humboldt University; European law at Freie Universität and at the University of Wisconsin Law School, USA. Most recently, she led a research project at the law faculty of the Franz von Liszt Institute for International and Comparative Law at Justus Liebig University, Giessen. This project was part of the interdisciplinary research cluster "Dynamics of Security - Types of Securitization in Historical Perspective", which was funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG). Dr. Paz is the author of "A Gateway Between a Distant God & a Cruel World: The Contribution of Jewish German Scholars to International Law" (2012). She has authored several articles for handbooks and periodicals, including the "European Journal of International Law," the "German Law Journal," and the "Oxford Handbook of International Legal Theory."
