Research facilities are located on the 3 upper floors, with 6 major Research Institutes and several independent basic and clinical research groups occupying laboratory and office space in the outer parts of the colourfully decorated wings of the building, while the inner parts of the wings mainly accommodate research equipment and technical infrastructure. The communication between the different institutions in the building is facilitated by bridges that connect the different wings across the spacious atrium in the centre of the building.
