Credit Transfer / Recognition
In order to be recognised, academic credits earned abroad need to meet the accreditation criteria as defined in the Lisbon Recognition Convention. You will need to discuss this with academic staff at Giessen:
Before you leave, please make sure the courses you want to study abroad fit into your personal study plan. Go and see Dr. Rummel where in doubt. You are also welcome to fill in a "office hours) and bring the course descriptions in question to ensure we can adequately discuss your plans."-form if you want to be sure that your credits will be recognised after your return which Dr. Rummel will sign for you. After coming back submit the formal Allgemeine Bestimmungen", § 29, or according to the special table for Great Britain which you will find in the Merkblatt. Please check this before you submit your "Antrag" and talk to us where in doubt.in print to our office (you can also leave it in our inbox). If you have filled in an "Absprache"-form you can attach this to prove that your courses have already been provisionally recognised. You find all necessary information about course recognition on our . Your marks will be converted according to the grading table in JLU's "
Please note: After we have reviewed your 'Antrag auf Anerkennung", you will receive an e-mail and we will place the signed 'Antrag' in our outbox next to the office. Please pick up the 'Antrag' and bring it to your respective examination office.
Please note that the Study Abroad Office will only recognise credits in ENGLISH. Academic credits earned abroad in other subjects will have to be recognised through the relevant bodies in the relevant departments (i.e. Spanish in Romanistik, Economics in BWL etc.).
Please also make sure to submit COPIES of your transcripts of records only, we do NOT need the original.
