Slavic Linguistics and Culture

Welcome to linguistics and cultural studies! At all levels of the language system, language is shaped and changed by use. Our field deals with both the language(s) of culture and language(s) in culture and aims to equip students with the methodological tools to understand the traditional and oldest texts of the Slavic languages and to be able to apply epoch-specific analyses to the text. We offer courses in synchronic and diachronic linguistics, with a focus on text-linguistic or morphosyntactic issues in synchronic topics and in historical pragmatics for diachronic topics. The courses are held in all formats (seminar, tutorial, lecture) and for all degree programs (BA / MA and teaching degree), whereby the language skills of the respective group of participants are taken into account. Presentations and papers on all Slavic languages are accepted. Theses at all levels are supervised.
