Institute of Experimental Physics I
The Institute of Experimental Physics I is dedicated to modern solid state physics and space physics. Three full professorships (Chatterjee, Klar, Thoma) are responsible for teaching and research in these areas. They are supported by a DLR professorship (Hannemann), a honorary professorship (Leiter), two extraordinary professorships (Hofmann, Schippers) and a lecturership (Polity) as well as one junior research group (Elm). The institute is actively involved in teaching for the BSc/ MSc programmes in Physics, BSc/MSc programmes in Materials Science (MaWi), and in Physics and Technology for Space Applications as well as in minor subject training for students majoring in biology. Additionally, it is responsible for specialist teacher training in physics (L2, L3, L5). Research at the institute is part of the Center for Materials Research (ZfM/LaMa) and the research campus Mittelhessen.
