Dr. Pascal Cop's dissertation on "CeO2-based nanostructures as model catalysts for HCl-oxidation" received the doctoral prize in the field of inorganic solid-state chemistry and materials research from the Solid State Chemistry & Materials Research group of the German Chemical Society (GDCh).

Prof. Silvia Gross (University of Padovavisits the Smarsly group as part of a DFG Mercator Fellowship. During her stay she teaches within the GRK 2204 and offers in particular two courses for students and doctoral students on the topics "X-Ray Photoelectron Spectroscopy", "X-Ray Fluorescence Spectroscopy" and "Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions of the EU". Further information: Course description on the GRK 2204 website. Other activities include advising students who are interested in staying abroad in Padua as part of the double degree agreement, completing five joint publications with JLU scientists and discussing and planning new ones scientific projects.
