Research interests

Research interests

 

I am Interested in the evolution of functional traits and how these impact the diversity and coexistence of species in a community.  

The ecological perspective of my research concentrates on how communities react to different types of disturbance (e.g. land use). Therefore I analyze the responses of functional and phylogenetic diversity of communities to environmental change.

The evolutionary perspective of my work focuses on the connection between Form and Function (e.g. mandible shape and diet) in a phylogenetic context.

Animal groups: My research has a strong focus on arthropods, especially carabids, but also other invertebrates. Some of my conservation projects focus on reptiles, amphibians and bats.
