Personal details

Alexander Cano joined the IPPAE (International Ph.D. Program for Agriculture Economics, Bioeconomy, and Sustainable Food Systems) of JLU in October 2021. He holds a MSc. in Agricultural Economics from the University of Puerto Rico – Mayagüez Campus (2016) and a Bachelor in Economics from the Universidad la Gran Colombia – Armenia Campus (2010). Prior to joining JLU, he worked in projects “Nursery Market Viability Assessment for Native and Exotic Non-Invasive Trees, Palms, and Shrubs in Puerto Rico” and the “Entrepreneurship Center for Women in Puerto Rico’s Agriculture (CEMA)”, both funded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). Additionally, he worked as an assistant professor in the Economics Program from the Universidad del Quindío (Colombia). His PhD research focuses on adaptation behavior of farmers to climate change in the central region of Colombia.
