Personal details

I am a Senior Agricultural Economist with expertise in interdisciplinary topics of sustainability, encompassing social, environmental, and economic dimensions, and a regional focus on China and Germany. My academic background includes a PhD in Agricultural Sciences from Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg and research experience at a number of institutions, namely the Technical University of Madrid (UPM), Kiel University and the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). I hold a Master's degree in Applied Economics from the University of International Business and Economics (UIBE) in Beijing and a BA/German Vordiplom degree in Chinese Studies and Business Administration. Recognizing the importance of interdisciplinary sustainability research, I am currently pursuing a part-time second degree in Sociology/Anthropology at Goethe University Frankfurt. I lead research projects and supervise a diverse group of doctoral, master's, and bachelor's students conducting research in Spain, Colombia, Indonesia, Ghana, and Afghanistan in addition to China and Germany. I have published more than 20 articles in several journals such as Journal of Rural Studies, Empirical Economics, China Economic Review, Urban Affairs Review, Global Ecology and Conservation, and Journal of Integrative Agriculture.
