Arable biodiversity
Scientific research in the frame of the testing and development project "Impact of an innovative harvesting technique on the species diversity of the agricultural landscape - a pilot study in the administrative district Marburg-Biedenkopf (Germany)"
Coordinator: Prof. Dr. Rainer Waldhardt
Researcher: N.N. (new position from the 15th of January 2019)
Duration: 2018-2022
Funding institution: Bundesamt für Naturschutz (BfN)
Project outline:
One aim of the project is to evaluate the effects of an innovative harvesting technique on the the diversity of arable vegetation (species diversity and population size including soil seed banks). The innovative technique aims to collect weed seeds during harvest and to reduce the amount of weed seeds in the arable soil. The second aim of the project is to evaluate the potential use of the collected seeds to increase the species diversity in the project region.
