Start of Studies

In the following you can find the information packages for the international students of faculty 09 who will start their studies in Winter Semester 2020/21.

Please read the information packages carefully. As we still need to clarify various organisational matters, we kindly ask you to refrain from sending your questions at this point. We are about arranging all necessary information and will send them to you within the next days. After that we will be prepared to answer personal questions and offer individual consultation.

In order to be able to commence your Master’s degree course profitably, it is advisable that you attend the Master Introduction Days. This event takes place in the week prior to commencement of lectures.

  • Here you can get to meet your new fellow students.
  • You are issued with your lecture timetable.
  • You will be shown how to register for modules and get important information for your study at JLU.

Due to the pandemic situation this year the Master Introduction Days will be organized digitally.

Technical Prerequisites

All digital introduction meetings will take place in Webex. For participation in the courses you need MS Teams. For both systems (Webex and MS Teams) you find a guide of our IT Service Centre enclosed. Please read the information carefully and familiarize yourself with the procedures.

We recommend a laptop or PC for participation in video conferences during the teaching and the Master Introduction Days. Participation with mobile devices (Smartphone / Tablet) is of course possible but not optimal, because not all functions of the web software are available.

Even so, if you want to try to use a smartphone or tablet for the webex meeting on Monday, please install the Webex App well ahead.

A camera and a microphone are especially important for the mentoring groups on Thursday so that you can get to know the other students. This will make the start of your studies easier. In order to have a better communication and to avoid acoustic feedback, we also recommend the use of headphones or a headset.
