Dr. Daria Steiner

Daria Steiner is a postdoctoral researcher and the academic coordinator of the European PhD Network “Literary and Cultural Studies”. She holds a binational PhD degree from Universities of Giessen and Bergamo.
In her doctoral dissertation, Daria examined representations of the Great Irish Famine in contemporary historical fiction, especially in the works by Joseph O'Connor. In her postdoctoral project, she intends to explore memory and heritage culture(s) of the Ukrainian Holodomor and the Great Irish Hunger. Her recent research also tackles the interventionist and socio-political work of literary fiction in addressing ongoing world hunger.
