Editorial Support

If you are a non-native speaker of German or English and writing your dissertation in one of these languages or in the language of your academic discipline, you are eligible to apply for up to 500 Euros for editorial support by a native speaker to proofread your thesis.

GCSC and IPP members – both active and passive – are eligible for editorial support.

Applications must include:

  • a letter of motivation explaining the necessity of native speaker editorial support and detailing the estimated costs of this support.

  • an outline of the dissertation project and selected bibliography.

  • a letter of recommendation by the first supervisor, which supports the necessity of native speaker editorial assistance and includes a statement on the applicant’s progress.

Please note that the applications will be considered only if the dissertation project is near to completion.

Applications will be accepted throughout the academic year. Please bear in mind that they can only be considered if they are submitted to the IPP (a) prior to the beginning of the proofreading process and (b) well in advance so that the IPP has enough time to review and decide about them. Depending on the language, the IPP can also suggest proofreaders that have worked with IPP members in the past.

Please submit applications either via Email () or to:
