[March 2022] BigBlueButton (BBB) video conferencing system at JLU
What is BBB?
(According to current knowledge, the WebEx and MS Teams systems offered centrally at JLU do not meet the data protection requirement. However, digital implementation of synchronous courses with over 250 participants will continue to be possible via WebEx.
You can also continue to accept invitations from other institutions for meetings, audits, etc., even if other systems are used.)

[December 2021] NIDIT - Online Launch Event
The NIDIT-team would like to invite all interested people to the online launch event of the joint project Network for Impactful Digital International Teaching Skills (NIDIT) on December 7, 2021, from 1:00 – 2:00 pm.
Access under https://tinyurl.com/niditopening
Registration is not necessary. The event will be held in German and English.
NIDIT is a joint project of the three hessian universities with the Justus-Liebig-University as the lead, the Philipps University Marburg and the University of Applied Sciences of central hesse and is funded by the foundation Innovation in Higher Education for the period 2021 – 2024.
A central component is broad-based impact analyses, from which quality criteria for digital teaching will be developed. These will be used to design and create high-quality and sophisticated (partial) digital teaching offers as a result of emergency remote teaching, that we experienced from the corona pandemic. On this basis, the participating didactics of the joint universites will be supplemented by comprehensive measures for digital competences (digital teaching literacy), international teaching and networking formats. In the process, teaching innovations such as virtual reality or gamification will be included and learning and teaching research focuses will be developed into the project focal points.
At the online launch event, you will receive an overview of the project goals and get to know the team behind NIDIT. In elevator pitches, we will present the measures of the project. After that, you have the opportunity to adress your questions, wishes and expectations in an open exchange or get in touch with the projects leaders and the team.
More information is available under https://www.uni-giessen.de/studium/lehre/projekte/nidit
If you have further questions, don’t hesitate to contact us via e-mail to Nidit@zfbk.uni-giessen.de

[April 2021] Seminarplanung in der Pandemie - Teaching Idea by Melanie Kreitler
The first place of the Dr. Herbert Stolzenberg Award for Excellence in Higher Education Teaching was awarded to two teaching projects last Year. One of them was submitted by Melanie Kreitler: "Seminarplanung in der Pandemie - Ein Entwurf der interaktiven digitalen Lehre"
The main goal of this seminar was to give the students the opportunity to build a community despite isolation and to get in contact with other participants as well as the teacher.
Thus, the seminar concept was designed to deal productively with the special challenges of digital teaching.
We congratulate Melanie and present her Teaching Idea on our homepage!

[February 2021] Co-Teaching in the summer term
Co-teaching enables doctoral researchers to gain teaching experience by collaborating with a lecturer and taking over a small teaching unit in one of his or her courses. The Teaching Centre is happy to take over the arrangement for you and offers accompanying introductory workshops on the basics of university teaching.
We would like to continue the programme also under digital conditions - depending, of course, on the possibilities of the lecturers. If you are interested, please contact us by March 15.
[February 2021] Call for Applications: STIBET Teaching Assistantships
The DAAD’s STIBET programme is designed to help our international GGK/GCSC members on both doctoral and postdoctoral level gather teaching experiences within the German academic system. The Teaching Centre at the GCSC therefore encourages you to design your own teaching projects, gain teaching experience, and get paid for your teaching assistantship! Please apply by March 1, 2021.
[September 2020] Offers for digital teaching during the semester break
Also during the lecture-free period, JLU offers a wide range of courses to prepare for digital teaching. These workshops still take place in September and October:
Advice and support
In response to the developments caused by the pandemic, all e-learning actors at the JLU (HRZ, HDK, ZfbK, EmE, DigLL, Lehre 4.0) together form the "Competence Team Digital Teaching".
The Competence Team has developed a needs-oriented consulting service and supplemented it with telephone and online consulting options.
You can contact the competence team under digitale-lehre.
Suggestions for courses in the digital space are made available on this Website.

[April 2020] Covid-19
In view of the challenges that teachers now face in digitising their own teaching concepts, we too had to adapt the Teaching Centre's programme to the current situation. Unfortunately, the Co-Teaching programme cannot therefore take place in the summer semester; the basic courses linked to it will also be cancelled.
However, we would like to point out the possibility of gaining teaching experience with digital possibilities via the STIBET call for applications.
Please also consider the workshop offers of Lehre 4.0.
