Registration and Deregistration (Conditions)

Registration

Depending on the provider of the education and training courses, a specific registration procedure follows, whereby the guidelines of the respective provider must be observed. The following guidelines refer to courses offered by the GGS.

Registrations for GGS courses are made by .

Each course has an individual registration deadline.

Registrations will be considered according to date and time of receipt. GGS members generally receive priority, non-members can only occupy remaining places (after registration deadline). You will receive timely feedback as to whether your registration was successful.

Your registration is binding and obliges you to attend the respective course without interruption.

Non-members (JLU-external participants)

For registrations of external doctoral candidates and postdocs, we have to charge a course fee of 75.00 - 100.00 € per course day since January 1, 2018 for legal reasons. JLU-external non-members can only take up remaining seats and will initially remain on the waiting list. They will receive an acceptance or rejection after the respective registration deadline.

This does not apply to doctoral students and postdocs from the partner universities of the Central Hesse Research Campus (FCMH): Members of the Technische Hochschule Mittelhessen (THM) and the Philipps-Universität Marburg (UMR) can take up remaining places free of charge. However, they also initially remain on the waiting list and receive an acceptance or rejection after the respective registration deadline.

JLU-internal doctoral students and postdocs (non-GGS-members) have priority at all times allocating remaining places.

Deregistration

If you are prevented from attending a course, we ask you to cancel your registration by at least 7 days before the start of the course so that other interested persons can move up from the waiting lists. If you cancel your registration later than 7 days before the first day of the course, you will be warned and in case of a repetition you will be barred from the GGS course programme for the following year, unless you provide – on your own accord –  the GGS with an unsolicited written excuse with appropriate documentation and justification of your absence, which will be accepted by the GGS. Acceptable Excuses include illness, accident, death in the family and force majeure. In cases of doubt, the GGS will decide.

Absence and incomplete Attendance

In case of non-attendance at a course without prior timely or justified deregistration or in case of incomplete course attendance (more than 20% absence at a course), you will also be warned and in case of repetition you will be suspended from the GGS course programme for the following year, unless you submit an unsolicited written excuse with appropriate documentation and justification of your absence to the GGS, which will be accepted by the GGS. Acceptable excuses include illness, accident, death in the family and force majeure. In cases of doubt, the GGS will decide.

Credit points according to ECTS

The ECTS credit points to be acquired in the individual courses are indicated in each case. In Faculty 02 - Business and Economics, the ECTS are agreed with the PhD officer ("Promotionsbeauftragter") and are recognised by the Faculty 02. You must nevertheless clarify individually with your doctoral supervisor whether you can have the ECTS points credited to your doctoral studies in the amount indicated.

To receive ECTS, you must prove an 80% active participation in the course. Necessary preparatory work and both oral and written assignments are included in the calculation. The requirements to be fulfilled can be found in the respective syllabus of a course.

Obtaining ECTS credit points by attending courses on extracurricular competences is possible in principle, but must be agreed individually. Please contact your doctoral supervisor for this purpose.
