Global Health & Human Rights

Mission Statement

The thematic focus lays on the social, political, legal, structural and economic conditions of health, including prevention, health protection, care and policy. Human rights are relevant here on the one hand as a strong normative orientation in the sense of global and social justice and non-discrimination, and on the other hand as a conceptual and methodological challenge for the disciplines, researchers and scientists involved. The focus is not only on the "human right to health", but explicitly on the connections and interrelationships between the various human rights.

Target Group

The GGS is aimed at doctoral and post-doctoral students in the social sciences, economics, law and related fields, including medicine. The aim of the new working group "Global Health and Human Rights" is to create an interdisciplinary forum for research with a strong interest in human rights-based approaches to health - in Germany and internationally.
