Meeting GreeTS at TU Darmstadt

The TANNRE project team traveled to Darmstadt in order to meet its cooperating partners from the GreeTS project on May 25, 2018. There was a lively exchange about the two research projects as well as about future cooperation.

The TANNRE team and Keila Eckerleben Schmitz (ZEU) were welcomed by Prof. Dr. Markus Lederer and Dr. Linda Wallbott from GreeTS (TU Darmstadt) and Chris Höhne from the project “Carbon Governance Arrangements and the Nation-State” (TU Darmstadt). After a short round of introductions, the participants introduced and discussed their projects.

The TANNRE team especially benefitted from the expertise and practical experience of GreeTS, which investigates a similar field of research. All involved persons hope to consolidate the cooperation and initiate joint projects in the future. We are very grateful for the valuable feedback and hope to welcome GreeTS in Giessen soon.

The project “Green Transformations in the Global South (GreeTS): opening the blackbox of a pro-active state and the management of sustainability trade-offs in Costa Rica and Vietnam” analyzes the causes, consequences and different practices and types of far reaching sustainability changes as they evolve from the energy and land use sectors. The research group will open up the black box of “the state” in both countries, specify concepts like state-society relations, political autonomy and transformations, and provide insights from substantial cross-sectoral empirical research in the two countries.
