Prof. Dr. Helmut Breitmeier
Principial Investigator
Prof. Dr. Helmut Breitmeier is Professor for International Relations at the Department of Political Science at Justus Liebig University Giessen. He graduated at University of Tübingen in 1990 and earned his PhD in 1996. He is a reviewer for several academic journals such as the Journal of Environment and Development, the UK Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) and the European Journal of International Relations and has published plenty of academic writings himself as well. He further functions as the deputy chairman of the executive board of the Development and Peace Foundation (sef). The substantial emphasis of his research is global governance with a special focus on international environmental and climate politics, forms of governance in world nutrition politics and the role of religion in world politics.
Dr. Sandra Schwindenhammer
Principial Investigator
Dr. Sandra Schwindenhammer is Assistant Professor at the Department of Political Science at Justus Liebig University Giessen. She graduated at Technische Universität Darmstadt (2011) and held an Interim Professorship of International Politics at Humboldt University of Berlin (2015-2016). She is a founding member of the ECPR Research Network “Food Policy and Governance” and acts as the Official Representative of Justus Liebig University Giessen at ECPR. Her areas of expertise include international norms, norm contestation, norm entrepreneurship, food- and agricultural politics, new forms of transnational governance, and the legitimacy and effectiveness of public and private organizations.
Andrés Checa
Research Assistant
Andrés Checa completed his bachelor's degree in Political Science, Cultural Anthropology and European Ethnology at Goethe University Frankfurt and his master's degree in Political Science at Justus Liebig University Giessen. In 2016, he worked as an intern for the Peace Research Institute Frankfurt (HSFK), the German Institute of Global and Area Studies (GIGA) and the city administration in Quito, Ecuador.
Jacob Manderbach
Research Assistant
After working in the field of public administration, Jacob Manderbach studied Social Sciences (B.A.) as well as Political Sciences (M.A.) at Justus Liebig University Giessen. During his studies, he worked as a student assistant at the chair of International Relations and at the chair of International Integration. He was a scholarship holder of the German Academic Scholarship Foundation.
Magdalena Tanzer
Research Assistant
Magdalena Tanzer studied Social Sciences at Humboldt University of Berlin. As part of her bachelor program, she completed an internship at ProVeg International. During her master studies, she worked as a student assistant at the chair of International Politics at Humboldt University as well as in a research project on health literacy at the Robert Koch Institute (RKI).
Elisabeth Alm
Student Assistant
Elisabeth Alm studies Social Sciences (B.A.) at Justus Liebig University Giessen. She spent one year abroad in the United States, Missouri at Sarcoxie High School in 2016.
Helena Renz
Student Assistant
Helena Renz is a student of Social Sciences (B.A.) at Justus Liebig University Giessen. Apart from working as a student assistant for TANNRE, she is also a tutor for empirical social research methods and statistics.
