in methods of political science regarding democracy and political socialization research

In accordance with § 2 WissZeitVG and § 72 HessHG, the position is to be filled on a fixed-term basis in the Chair of Political Science with Focus on Methodology of Political Science regarding Democracy and Political Socialization Research, Department of Political Science in the Faculty of Social and Cultural Studies (03) with the opportunity to submit a dissertation. The salary is in accordance with the collective labour agreement of the State of Hessen (E 13 TV-H).

For applicants who apply as doctoral research associates, the maximum permissible duration of a fixed-term contract may not be exceeded; you will be employed for an initial period of three years. An extension of up to two more years is possible under the aforementioned conditions. For applicants who apply as postdocs, the maximum permissible duration of a fixed-term contract may not be exceeded; you will be employed for an initial period of three years. An extension of up to three more years is possible under the aforementioned conditions.

Your tasks at a glance

• Opportunity to improve your own academic and didactic qualifications, and conduct research and teaching according to § 72 HessHG
• Teaching duties according to the teaching obligation ordinance of the state of Hessen (currently 2 SWS)
• Participation in research and publication projects of the professorship in the field of empirical democracy, political socialization, and/or attitude research
• Participation in the administration of the professorship in the area of teaching (course organization, exams)
• Support in managing the student assistants of the professorship

Your qualifications and competences

• Completed Master‘s or equivalent university degree in political science or sociology with a focus on empirical-quantitative research, in political socialization, empirical democracy and/or attitude research
• For postdoc applicants: a completed doctorate in political science or sociology with a focus on empirical-quantitative research, in political socialization, empirical democracy and/or attitude research
• Relevant knowledge in empirical quantitative methods as well as in political socialization or empirical democracy research
• Very good knowledge of at least one common program of empirical quantitative analysis (SPSS, Stata or R)
