Master of Arts in Art History
European History of Art can be studied as part of the multiple Master’s programme “History and Cultural Studies” as a major or a minor subject. On the basis of well-founded knowledge and skills in art and visual science methodology, the art-historical modules cover image-theoretical as well as culture- and media-historical questions that are always context-aware and differentiating, initiating a cultural scientific dialogue between Art History and other historical, literary-scientific, but also music- and theatre-scientific subjects and should be pursued in close relation to current research debates.
Students are introduced to scientific questions and research contexts that enable them to understand and analyse research activities and results in culture and image-theoretical contexts and to apply this knowledge independently.
