Space, Time and Mediality

The mediatization of space and time evolves in new ways in the “new media”, primary in computer games and the internet, but also, e.g., in films. The effects of mediatization are in philosophy as well as in media sciences noticeable.

On the one hand, we have new epistemological questions, e.g.: How does the perception of “locality” changes , do localities “move together” or do different localities overlap in space in time, is there “typicality” of locality anymore? Is there “centrality” in a knowledge base any more that is so heterogeneous and wide like “the net”? On the other hand, there are interesting questions in media science, e.g.: How do we learn in front of new mediatization of space and time? How do we play the space and time in games?

Together with Prof. Dr. Johannes Fromme (Institute of education, U Magdeburg) a lecture series+seminar is conducted, whereby the lectures are, together with the Magdeburger Theorieforum, the base for a new book “Space, Time and Mediality” forthcoming 2011 in VS-Verlag.
