Hypoxische Präkonditionierung

Studie "Effects of hypoxia pre-conditioning on physiological responses during mountain sport activities in persons with a history of coronary artery disease"

The project aims to investigate the effects of an IH pre-conditioning program or pre-adapting for one night at moderate altitude (this are the recent recommendations) on physiological responses (e.g., oxygen saturation, heart rate, blood pressure, metabolic and ventilatory responses) during pas-sive hypoxia exposures and exercise at altitude in people at risk. Additionally, the effects of the pro-grams on inflammatory (e.g., IL-6, TNF-alpha, hsCRP) and stress markers (e.g., catecholamine) and markers of myocardial injury (e.g., highly sensitive cardiac troponine T) and function (e.g., ultrasound) will be investigated. Moreover, heart rate variability (HRV) and the baroreflex sensitivity (BRS), as mark-ers of the autonomic nervous system (34), and aortic stiffness will be measured at various time points (35). Of course, hypoxia pre-conditioning is not intended to replace adequate physical preparation (i.e., exercise training) and pharmacological intervention, but might be considered a supplementary preven-tive measure.
