Project Z

Project Z administers the Clinical Research Unit and coordinates the research activities between principal investigators. Furthermore, management of investment, office supplies, travel expenses and costs for guest researchers will be assigned to project Z.

The Z-Project coordinates research activities between principal investigators of the Clinical Research Unit. This includes the use of the following platforms:

The Testicular Biopsy Repository of the Hessian Center for Reproductive Medicine (HCRM) located at the Institute of Veterinary Anatomy, Histology and Embryology (Prof. Dr. M. Bergmann), the Department of Dermatology and Andrology (Prof. Dr. H.C. Schuppe) and the Cryobank of the HCRM located at the Department of Dermatology and Andrology (Prof. Dr. H.C. Schuppe).

The Platform for Bioinformatics and Data banking (Prof. Dr. T. Chakraborty) will implement study protocols and workflows for clinical definition of cohorts, informed consent procedures, procedures for obtaining clinical material (blood, biopsies, etc.) and standard operating procedures for clinical and laboratory protocols. The platform will enable centralized archiving of microarray-, genotyping- and high throughput chip data, biostatistical and bioinformatic support and address pathogenic related questions regarding diagnostic signatures of genomic and transcriptomic data, and explore links between biomarkers with phenotypic profiles of disease.

The Carl Zeiss / Palm Laser Microdissection System (Prof. Dr. K. Steger / Prof. Dr. A. Meinhardt) which is located at the Institute of Anatomy and Cell Biology is a grant from the von Behring-Röntgen-Stiftung including a technician (Angela Erkel).

The Platform real-time quantitive PCR (Dr. A. Paradowska / Prof. Dr. K. Steger) and Epigenetics (PD Dr. U. Schagdarsurengin / Prof. Dr. K. Steger) which is located within the research laboratory of the Department of Urology, Pediatric Urology and Andrology.
