Christiane Pleuger starting in Project 9
Membership within IRTG extended
After successful completion of her degree in project 1, Christiane will stay with the IRTG as a postdoc in project 9. She will be succeeding Britta who will be continuing on her career.
We are happy to accompany Christiane's next stage in resesarch.

Kate Loveland awarded second extension of JLU Liebig Professorship
Reapproval of Kate Loveland's outstanding contribution to the Monash-JLU relationship
On the occasion of his short visit at Monash University JLU president Prof. Joybrato Mukherjee conveyed the new certificate to Prof. Kate Loveland.
With the award that reminds of the most famous researcher and eponym of the university, Justus Liebig, JLU wants to honour renowned scientists for their outstanding achievements and to intensify international scientific relationship.

Zlatko Skrbis visits Giessen to receive highest JLU recognition
Monash Senior Pro Vice-Chancellor (Academic) Professor Zlatko Skrbis is awarded with the Liebig Medal for his outstanding contribution to the institutional partnership between Monash Universtity and JLU. In the presence of Dr. Lauren Bain deputy ambassadress of Australia he receives the award by Prof. Dr. Mukherjee president of the JLU.

Constanze will stay in reproduction research at the JLU
We are happy to learn that Conni will stay in Giessen, starting her postdoc in Klaus Steger's lab at BFS next door.

IRTG to continue until 2022
Second funding period of IRTG granted by the DFG
We are glad to announce that our renewal proposal has been approved by the DFG.
IRTG is to be continued with a total of 11 projects giving the opportunity to train more junior scientists in the field of reproduction.

This honour is reapproval of Kate's outstanding contribution to the Monash-JLU relationship. Great!

Successful IRTG On-site Review
IRTG recommended for continuation
Many of the IRTG members did shoulder a long journey (from Australia, Paris, Northern Italy and all over Germany) and not one local missed the date. All for one goal: to back the important DFG on-site review.
Moreover, the cooperation was endorsed by Australian Ambassador Lynette Wood, who graced us with her presence, and Prof. Zlatko Skrbis, Interim Deputy Vice-Chancellor and Vice-President (Education) of Monash University.
A heartfelt THANK YOU to all for your commitment! Together, we made it a success!

Position at Leibniz Institute for Sebastian Galuska
New position for Sebastian Galuska
One of our Supervisors in project 3 has obtained an attractive permanent position as a group leader in Glycobiology at the well-known Leibniz Institute for Farm Animal Biology.
Though up in the far North of Germany he will continue supervision of doctoral student Pradeep Kumar Kudipudi.
All the best to Sebastian for this new position and his future!

New dean Wolfgang Weidner
First full-time dean at JLU's Faculty of Medicine
IRTG member Wolfgang Weidner, was elected new Dean of the Medical Faculty. Retired from his position as chief medical officer of the urology department, he accepted the office of the dean for three years (from October 2015). We wish him a successful tenure!

Adjunct Professorship for Andreas Meinhardt
JLU spokesperson becomes honorary lecturer at Monash!
Andreas Meinhardt has been offered a new adjunct appointment as a professor with the Department of Anatomy and Developmental Biology at Monash University. He is very glad to accept this honour.
It's already the second Adjunct Appointment at Monash. His appointment with MIMR-PHI in the Faculty of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences has just been extended until December 2017.
