What is job shadowing?

In a job shadowing, the mentee will visit the mentor at his or her workplace and observe their daily work. Ideally, there is an introduction at the beginning of the job shadowing and an opportunity to ask questions afterwards. Sometimes the mentor also arranges a small meeting with colleagues for the mentee. The duration of a job shadowing normally takes a day. In contrast to an internship, the observer does not work herself / himself.

A job shadowing is only optional, in some cases it might not be possible because of company restrictions.
