- a brief letter of motivation (max. 500 words)

Selection process and criteria:
- Stage: Giessen Graduate Center for the Life Science quality control for language, completeness and a technical ranking
- Stage: Scientific assessment by the evaluation committee according to several standards and questions:
Do current research and the personal research interests relate to PNI and pulmonary physiology/pathophysiology or sports-/nutritional science?
Scientific communications and degree of advancement of own research
Potential benefits of participation and contribution to the autumn school for the applicant
Scientific promise (motivation/enthusiasm, reference letters, awards)
The group of highly motivated and best-qualified young trainees selected is aimed to cover
- multidisciplinarity (PNI or neuroscience/neuroimmunology and pulmonary physiology/pathophysiology or sports sciences)
- a balanced mixture of nationalities (substantial proportion from Germany)
- a good gender balance (no less than 30% female)
