Content

Sustainability is a complex concept and need to be understood by an interdisciplinary approach. To achieve sustainability, we need the contribution of all individuals and from different fields. In this context, education is considered as a powerful tool to achieve a sustainable future through change agents (students with sustainably knowledge and skills). As a function of supplying knowledge and educating students who will be the leaders of our future, Higher Education plays an important role on the way to achieve a better future for all.

This lecture will provide a basic concept about sustainability and the role of higher education in achieving sustainable development goals. Because sustainability is related to all the disciplines, the participants can easily link it to themselves and develop their own idea about the sustainable life and potential contribution.

During the lecture, some interaction activities will be employed to let the participants engage more deeply in the topic as well as connect to their own situation. It is also a better way to help participants to absorb the provided knowledge.

Key words: sustainable development, sustainability, higher education, higher education for sustainable development, sustainability competencies, sustainability integration
