Historical Network Research. The case of a Rural Credit Market in the 19th Century - A Public Lecture by Dr. Martin Stark

ZMI, GCSC und Herder-Institut Marburg veranstalten gemeinsam den Workshop Data Collection and Visualization of Networks in History and Culture. Die von Prof. Katharina Stornig (ZMI-Sektion 4/GCSC), Dr. Elke Bauer und Dr. Victoria Harms (jeweils Herder-Institut) organisierte Veranstaltung eröffnet am Mittwoch, 15. November 2017 um 17 Uhr im Multifunktionsraum des GCSC, Alter Steinbacher Weg 38, 35394 Gießen mit einem öffentlichen Vortrag von Dr. Martin Stark (Institut für Landes- und Stadtentwicklungsforschung, Büro Aachen). Der Vortrag hat folgendes Thema zum Schwerpunkt:

Over the last decade, network analysis has made its way from a fringe theory to an established albeit minor methodology in historical research that goes beyond a purely metaphorical use of the term "network". A substantial number of studies on different topics and periods have shown that network theories and formal network methods developed in other disciplines can be fruitfully applied to various bodies of historical sources. The speaker, Dr. Martin Stark will introduce his research and relevant concepts, methods, and theories in the framework of a public lecture, followed by a discussion.
