The Center for Media and Interactivity is spearheading the focus group, "Culture Techniques and their Medialization," which has been funded through 2011 with approximately 2.3 million Euros. The coordinators are Prof. Dr. Henning Lobin (also the spokesman) of the ZMI and Prof. Dr. Peter Haslinger from the Herder Institute in Marburg. The LOEWE focus group will occupy itself with the effects of currently occurring, vast media-technological and societal upheavals in communicative cultural techniques of reading and writing and in the cultural techniques that build upon these. This should be explored from the perspective of medialization, in which linguistic, cultural, sociological, and historical approaches are combined with each other. Through this, additional practically oriented and media-based theoretical and technological perspectives will be opened via cooperations with the non-university-based Herder Institute Marburg (Prof. Dr. Peter Haslinger, institute director) and the University of Applied Sciences Giessen/Friedberg (Prof. Dr. Rainer-Bernd Voges and Prof. Dr. Joachim Zinke).
