Im Sommersemester 2018 startet das International Graduate Centre for the Study of Culture (GCSC) ein neues Vortragsreihe – Kurze Rede, langer Sinn | Short Talks, Big Questions.

With the summer term of 2018 the International Graduate Centre for the Study of Culture (GCSC) is establishing a new series of short talks, aiming to showcase the vast variety of research and approaches in the study of culture undertaken by the doctoral researchers at the GCSC. The talks, each of them a maximum of 10 minutes long, present a snippet of the speaker’s research, by means of a single “big question.” Conceptually, the series as a whole aims at reaching out to the wider university public at JLU and making visible the GCSC’s research activities, especially for JLU students interested in pursuing doctoral research of their own.

The first batch of talks in the summer semester of 2018 covers such diverse topics as modern monarchy, professional online gaming and animal ethics, thus showcasing the variety of research in the study of culture carried out at the GCSC.

// Kurze Rede, langer Sinn | Short Talks, Big Questions is realized as a cooperation between the GCSC and the Giessen University Library and takes place in the foyer of the library, Wednesdays from 3:55pm to 4:05pm. Everyone interested is welcome and also promises free coffee and cookies to all listeners.
