About Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Ansgar Nünning
Ansgar Nünning has been Professor of English and American Literature and Cultural Studies at the University of Giessen, Germany since 1996. He is the founding director of the Giessen Graduate School for the Humanities and of the International Graduate Centre for the Study of Culture (GCSC) as well as the academic director of the International PhD Program (IPP) “Literary and Cultural Studies” and a member of the Collaborative Research Centre “Memory Cultures.”

Prof. Ansgar Nünning, Founding Director of the GGK/GCSC, received an honorary doctorate degree from the University of Stockholm in 2017. An internationally renowned scholar, he was awarded this degree in respect of his distinguished contributions in the field of literary and cultural studies as well as his leading role in the reformation and internationalization of PhD education.
