Justus-Liebig-University Giessen (JLU) and Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh) invite young researchers to the Climate Change Impacts on the MED-Agro-Food Chain summer school. It is an activity of the DAAD partnership project “The Mediterranean Hot-Spot: Challenges and Responses in a Changing Environment”.

Scope of the Summer School

The summer school brings together the excellence of research in climatology, geography, ecology, landscape and resource management, nutrition, sociology, agricultural policy and economics. In a combination of interdisciplinary keynote plenary lectures, workshops, public lectures and excursions we will learn and discuss about

  • climate change impacts on regional farming systems
  • emergent risks, opportunities and adaptation
  • food security and sustainable food production
  • agricultural policy and economy
  • climate models and crop modelling

The participants will present posters of their own research and develop research proposals in interdisciplinary groups under the umbrella theme “Agro-Food Chain Challenges in the Mediterranean”.

Deadline for Applications:  2 June 2019

The summer school is open to international young researchers (MSc, PhD students, early postdocs) from the broader climate, agriculture, nutrition, social sciences and economics. Participation is competitive and limited to a maximum of 30. The registration fee (150€) covers accommodation, meals and teaching material. Successful participants will be notified in June 2019. www.uni-giessen.de/zeu/summerschool
