Rematriculation and Update of ID Card

Re-matriculation for the next semester takes place automatically once you have paid the semester contribution. Your payments must have reached JLU within the respective rematriculation period. With your student ID card you can print out your student certificates (10 days after your payments at the earliest) for the respective semester at the self-service print-stations of the Registrar’s Office in Goethestr. 58. The RMV-Ticket („Semester-Ticket” for local public transport) is valid until the end of the semester and is updated when you print out your student certificates for the next semester.

The ID card certificates are valid for three years. Please remember that you have to renew them yourself before they expire. An ID card with expired certificate does not allow you to use the examination management system FlexNow, for example. The certificates can be checked and renewed at the registrar’s office, at many other facilities of JLU Giessen or with your own card-reader at home (you will need the PIN for this).

You will only have to contact the registrar's office in case you experience any problems when trying to print out your study certificates, if your personal data has changed, or if you encounter any other difficulty with rematriculation.
