International Summer University 2021
Welcome to Justus Liebig University's 16th International Summer University.
We invite you to spend two creative weeks of intense analyzing, studying, imagining, developing and discussing the future of societies after Covid-19 in the summer of 2021. The Virtual International Summer University 2021 focuses on:
Transforming Societies for a Better Future
We will break down the transformation of societies into five key areas of particular interest:
- Pushing Medicine forward
The Covid-19 pandemic has given an unprecedented push to rapid mRNA agent research and development. eHealth and the mass deployment of medical apps have reached an unprecedented level across the world. We will analyze the possibilities for applying mRNA agent development to oncology and overcoming medicine's major obstacles. We will further analyze the opportunities of eHealth for modern societies.
- Putting AI to work
Artificial intelligence has been widely used in the medical field, especially in diagnosing cancer such as breast cancer and in eye diseases, but the Coronavirus pandemic has opened our eyes to new uses for it in the field of predicting the locations of the virus’s spread, or even in identifying the infected and analyzing their data. We will study what the new trends in using artificial intelligence are and how it can be used to protect medical staff and first responders.
- Transforming investing
Stakeholders of investment funds and sovereign wealth funds alike are not only looking for return but for impact of their investments. We will analyze new investment strategies and their impact on transforming societies.
- Transforming education
Sending more than 1 billion children and students home, the pandemic has given a rise to e-learning in schools and universities alike. We will reimagine higher education in this course and develop concepts for providing access to better education for more students at more affordable prices
- Jump-starting business development after Covid-19
Jump-starting business development, stimulating job growth and attracting new business has been a crucial challenge for many economies even before Covid-19. In this module, we will analyze the post Covid-19 factors for successful business development.
