27/07/2022 | Check out – Cross-university reflection session for tutors: a premiere between the JLU and the UMR

The last live event of the German-language Tutors´ Qualification programme took place on the July 5, 2022. The “Check out – Cross university reflection session for tutors“ was organised by Inês Gamelas from the Justus Liebig University Giessen (JLU) and Philipp Lindenstruth from the Philipps University Marburg (UMR) as part of the joint academic project Network for Impactful Digital International Teaching Skills (NIDIT).

This new cooperation between the Tutors´ Qualification from both universities proved to be a success. In the two-hour online session, the nine participants (students and/or tutors from the JLU and the UMR) had the opportunity to reflect on their own teaching experiences and exchange ideas with their peers under the motto “learning with and from each other”. Topics such as the tutor´s role, teaching and learning objectives, planning and time management, communication with students, media, digital tools, and teaching methods were the focus of the exchange moments.

The reflection and the discussion of these different topics was based on the questions included in a reflection checklist which was sent in advance to all participants (here you can find the link to the checklist as OER in our NIDIT media library - the checklist is only available in German). This gave the participants time to think about their teaching activity as tutors and then, during the exchange, to compare teaching strategies and practices.

Due to the positive feedback, both universities plan to continue offering this session together in the following semesters.
